SEGUIN FORM BOARD
The Seguin Form Board (Cattell, 1953) is a fairly valid test ‘g’ below the mental age of about 10 (i.e., with children and adults feeble-minded). With greater capacities it becomes a test of manual dexterity. The test probably is most diagnostic between 2½ and 6 years.
Procedure for Administration
Seat the subject near a table with the board arranged to face the subject. The pieces are placed in 3 heaps (not spread out) at the back of the board in the order shown below: – The S is asked to replace the pieces as quickly as possible using either or both hands. The time taken is measured with a stopwatch. Three trials are given and the shortest of the 3 times (in seconds) is used to read the mental age of S from the table of norms given below:-
